McMillin and his #31 Red Bull / Toyo Tires / KMC Wheels / Rigid / Fox Chevrolet Silverado SCORE Trophy Truck led the 485.02-mile race from start-to-finish for a time of 09:49:12. Running on Toyo® Open Country M/T®-R tires, he averaged 49.39 miles per hour while beating out 244 other competitors from the U.S., Mexico and countries located around the globe. This weekend’s victory represents McMillin’s second consecutive 2019 SCORE World Desert Championship victory, as he captured the overall win during the 33rd Annual SCORE San Felipe 250 in April. By winning the SCORE San Felipe 250, McMillin started first in the SCORE Baja 500. McMillin leads the points championship in the four-race series for 2019. “Winning the SCORE San Felipe 250 and securing the number one starting position helped to eliminate a lot of traffic and gave me extra confidence going into our SCORE Baja 500 win,” said McMillin. “No win is ever easy, as it still takes a dedicated team and excellent equipment, which includes our Toyo tires.” “Congratulations to Andy McMillin and his entire team on winning the 51st SCORE Baja 500,” said Tim Chaney, vice president, marketing, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “With two consecutive victories in this four-race series, he is easily leading the first half of the 2019 championship. We couldn’t be happier that Andy is using Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires to help capture his back-to-back wins.” This was McMillin’s third SCORE victory with Toyo Tires and his 11th career SCORE Trophy Truck race win to tie for second with Ed/Tim Herbst, Larry Ragland and Team Toyo’s Robby Gordon. He also won the 2017 SCORE Baja 500 overall while competing on Toyo® Open Country® tires as well as the 2016 Best In The Desert Series Vegas-to-Reno and the Parker ‘425’ in both 2017 and 2018. Be sure to watch all of Team Toyo’s trophy truck drivers competing in the 2019 SCORE World Desert Championship, including McMillin, Robby Gordon, BJ Baldwin, Tavo Vildosóla and newest member Bryce Menzies.
