Throwback Thursday | Trucko de Mayo Celebration

Relaxin’ in Socal

Packing more than 500 high-quality custom show vehicles onto a city street at Alpine Electronics in Torrance, California, is no easy task. Providing a laid-back, fun environment at a low cost event is even more of an achievement. Once again, the crew of Relaxed Atmosphere, with help from Alpine Electronics, Kinetik and the rest of the sponsors, pulled off an unforgettable show day with a wide variety of customs. Showcased in the Street Trucks Magazine booth were two cover trucks, as well as the Dale Speed Shop Studebaker, Mike Wyatt’s roadster Tahoe and more.

This year, the show fell on Cinco de Mayo. Not known to shy away from a good theme, the production crew contracted a full mariachi band to play throughout the day. As always, fresh-made tacos were available in abundance, as well as roasted corn and hot dogs served by former American Gladiator Ice. A portion of the proceeds from the show was donated to charity to fight autism. To cap off the event the ’80s classic rock band Dramarama played in support of the charity. As always, custom-made awards were handed out, and a custom guitar painted by Mr. 19 went to the Best of Show winner, the revamped Zacatecas II Tahoe, which was featured on the cover of our September 2011 issue.

Stay tuned for next year’s not-to-miss event, complete with a special theme and custom awards. Visit Rasocal.com for more information.
