Protecting Your Bed and Valuables with BedRug and Undercover
There are many advantages to owning a truck. The fact that you can toss in a couch, cement bags, a bed or drum kit like it’s no big deal beats out the small trunk on a car any day. Ironically, the drawback is that a truck has no trunk. There’s nowhere to put smaller items that could be stolen or damaged.
The BedRug is a durable and stylish way to not only protect the finish of your bed, but the items you will place in it, too. The form fitted material is 100% polypropylene, which is basically plastic, so it will hold up to the sun and most things you can throw at it. The surface is skid resistant and doesn’t absorb water, which means that you can hose it down or vacuum it to bring it back to like new condition if it gets dirty. The liners are made specifically for each truck to feature a great fit, and depending on the model, there are cut outs for factory hooks or handles and the cushioned floor fits perfectly to the bed ribs.
While the BedRug will protect your bed and your cargo, security is paramount to hide your valuables from thieves. A tonneau cover can enclose and secure your cargo. Of course, style is important, so the folks at Undercover developed their LUX line for a bed cover that not only offers protection but sleek styling as well. The lightweight ABS plastic cover has a low profile fit with aerodynamic inspired lines and comes color matched to your factory paint. The LUX cover features concealed hinges and is easy to install with only 3/8 and ½ inch wrenches. Built in hinge pins are included as well as wall hooks to make removal and storage painless.
All together the BedRug liner and Undercover LUX cover took about an hour to install using very basic tools. Now you can have the best of both worlds, a truck bed and cargo protection.ST
[01] Case in point, all of the work gear and lunch that would fly out on the freeway can now be moved from the cab to the bed. Please keep the kid’s seat where it is.[02] The underside of the BedRug is cushioned and form fit to each application.[03] Letting the BedRug sit out in the sun to relax helps when you start to zip together the floor and sides.[04] The sides are formed around the wheel wells. The liner zips together to be dropped in the bed.[05] The supplied hook and loop pieces are placed throughout the strips.[06] Longer strips go along the bottom and underside of the floor.[07] The strips feature adhesive backing. The backing on the strips under the floor is removed prior to dropping the BedRug into the bed.[08] The BedRug liner is dropped in and the rest of the strips are peeled before the liner is put in place.[08a][09] The liner is patted down and lightly stretched to fit perfectly into the bed. Depending on the make and model, provisions are made for any factory hooks or handles.[10] Here is the durable BedRug liner installed and ready for whatever you can throw at it.[10a][11] The front brackets are placed on the bed rails with the end of the bracket at about 16 inches from the bulkhead.[12] The clamps are fit with washers and lock washers to prevent damage to the bed rail. The clamps are tightened in place, but they might need to be adjusted once the cover is in place.[12a][12b][13] The rear brackets are installed in the same manner, with the leading edge about 43 inches from the bulkhead.[14] The hinge system comes pre-installed and will easily slip over the posts and lock in place.[14a][15] Install the knobs, locking the hinge and cover in place. A quick turn of the knobs will release the cover to remove it.[16] The gas struts are secured to the ball mounts on the rear brackets on the cover and bed rail.[17] Here you can see the rigid yet light structure on the inside of the cover, as well as the locking levers and the weather seal around the edge. It might take some slight adjustment for a proper fit.[18] A touch LED light is mounted under the cover; it’s self-powered, so no wiring is needed.[19] The cover comes with a watertight lock to ensure that your valuables are safe and secure.
