A Super Clean ’67

Andy purchased this 1967 Chevy C10 on his 40th birthday. The truck was in a shed for more than 10 years and had 87,000 original miles on the inline-six with three on the tree. After getting the truck home from Atlanta, Andy devised a plan for a complete tear-down.

Hunt & Gather

Andy began his plans by having a local body shop assess the ’67, and an agreement was made. He disassembled everything except the cab and sent it off for bodywork. During the bodywork phase, Andy started to gather his parts for a complete build.

He scored a custom bench seat at the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and an aluminum bed floor at Goodguys show in Charlotte, North Carolina. After ordering new cab corners, inner and outer rocker panels, door skins, hood, passenger side fender, entire bed, and tailgate, the list was almost complete.

Everything was moving right along, except the original body shop left the cab sitting untouched for seven months. Andy decided to pull it and take it on over to Elite Customs. They began installing every part Andy had gathered and completed the needed bodywork.

Now, almost ready for paint, Andy chose to go with Audi Nardo Gray. After paint was completed, Andy hit up as many friends and family as he could bribe with pizza and beer to help him start to piece her back together.

Engine Upgrade

Next to go was the factory inline six cylinder. Andy picked up a 1978 355ci small block Chevy.  With the engine at M&E Engine Services, Andy installed new engine mounts and began to run new wiring. M&E Engine Services rebuilt the engine using Wiseco pistons and moly rings with H-beam connecting rods, Trickflow aluminum heads with Trickflow camshaft, and Holley Sniper valve covers.

Andy had M&E Engine Services build up a nice and clean 355ci small-block to fit between the framerails and give her a little grumble under the hood.

Next up, the Holley Fabricated Intake with Holley Super Sniper EFI was installed. Hedman Headers attached to Borla 3-inch race mufflers helped let the engine breathe, and “Dirty Laundry” was coming together.

Perfect Stance

Andy knew he wanted air-ride for that killer stance, so he headed over to Carolina Truck Shop have the crew there build the new air-ride setup. While it was there, they installed the aluminum bed floor and other finishing touches. The truck needed some more attention under the hood, and Carolina Truck Stop came up with some custom sheetmetal to surround the motor to clean everything up and tie it all together.

One last thing before heading to the interior shop was the proper set of wheels and tires. Carolina Truck Shop is a US Mag dealer, so Andy picked out US Mag 567 Nimitz Concave in 20×9 front and 20×12 rear. To fit the rubber under the bed, the rear end had to be cut down and narrowed 2 inches per side.

Custom Interior

To make the inside of “Dirty Laundry” look as good as the rest of the truck, Negative Matt at the Armory Upholstery recovered the custom bench seat with black Relicate leather and Alcantara. They added Munssey Speed carbon fiber door panels, glovebox, Vannatta Fabrication kick panels, a custom headliner, and a custom panel behind the seat. The finishing touches really brought everything together nicely.

Special Thanks

Andy would like to thank his wife, Jamie. Without her support, “Dirty Laundry” would not have been possible. He also thanks all his friends, family, and shops that helped along the way.
