Royal Purple is known for offering high quality synthetic oil and other products for every aspect of vehicles from engines to cooling systems. Now the company offers the new Max-Clean Fuel System Cleaner and Stabilizer. Max-Clean cleans injectors or carburetors and intake valves and combustion chambers. This helps to prevent possible knocking and pinging from fuel starvation that could cause damage to the engine. Emissions are also reduced, the cleaner is EPA and CARB compliant, and it can be used in gas, diesel, motorcycle and other engines. When used in diesel engines, Max-Clean helps reduce wear that can be caused by newer ultra-low-sulfur, clean-burning diesel fuel.

For testing, we selected an older ‘94 Chevrolet C/K V-6 single-cab pickup. The truck pushed well over 100,000 miles so some fuel system cleaning was more than welcome. On a road trip, the truck garnered a great 20 mpg on the highway. Before heading home, we treated an empty tank with Royal Purple Max-Clean to see what mpg benefits we would gain. We noticed a bit better throttle response, and it seems we gained a little over ½-mile to the gallon. That is about 12 extra miles per tank. While that may seem minor, it’s an improvement for a small investment that also helps lengthen the life of the engine and can help keep repair costs down. It can also help offset the cost of running a higher octane fuel.
Add one can to an empty tank for 15 to 20 gallons of fuel, or 1 ounce per gallon. ST
