THROUGHOUT my years of shooting trucks, I’ve rarely come across an owner with such a prestigious job as a dentist. Todd Touchet of Maurice, Louisiana, originally from Kaplan, graduated from USL in Lafayette with a four-year degree. He attended LSU School of Dentistry and graduated in 1997. Always a car and truck guy, Todd’s passion seemed to have grown over the years, and he became enamored specifically by Ford trucks. It took many years for Todd to find the truck he wanted, but his friend had a stock ’67 Ford F-100 just sitting around that caught his attention.
While most high-profile dentists park their brand-new Porsches or BMWs in the parking lot, Todd is happy to stare out at the spot where he parks his classic Ford Poodoo.

“My vision was to get that truck and slam it to the ground,” Todd tells Street Trucks. “I know it’s unconventional, but it’s something that I always wanted.” It took some convincing, but he was able to strike a deal and purchase the truck from his friend. The motor was strong, but it wasn’t enough for Todd. Wanting to add more muscle, he enlisted BluePrint Engines to add some serious giddy-up with a 347 stroker. The one thing that was desperately needed was A/C on those hot days, and because the stock model was born without it, he brought the classic to Gulf Coast Garage in Broussard, Louisiana, for a Vintage Air upgrade.

At the Cruisin’ the Coast show, Todd met Stacy Bearden from Superior Bedliner and Window Tint, and the two clicked within minutes. Todd knew instantly that he wanted Stacy to handle the entire build. Within the next two months, Stacy had ripped apart the stock suspension, added a full Accuair air management system, and added a raised bed that hides all the integral parts and can be lifted to access the fuel tank and air-ride parts. The next step was the interior, as the stock ’67 cabin was replaced with brand-new leather and era-corrected to make it more modern. The headliner was then redone with a diamond stitch material, and billet cup holders were mounted in the bench seat for convenience. A CJ Classic Trucks steering wheel was installed to the Ididit steering column with a six-bolt, three-spoke design.

In Urban Dictionary, “poodoo” means one who lacks social graces or is disgustingly disturbing, so Todd affectionately graced his Ford with that title. That name has stuck with him, and even though he’s such a professional in the business field, he uses his truck as his getaway from the heavy load of responsibilities. Now married with two adult children, Cameron, 25, and Grant, 23, Todd owns and operates Touchet Family Dentistry. While most high-profile dentists park their brand-new Porsches or BMWs in the parking lot, Todd is happy to stare out at the spot where he parks his classic Ford Poodoo.
