One weekend, one conversion panel, and a completely different-looking Ford F-100.
In this step-by-step tech episode, we show you how to convert a small back window cab into the highly sought-after big back window design on a 1953 through 1956 Ford F-100.
Using a big back window conversion panel from LMC Truck, we walk through the full process—from measuring and marking the cab to removing the original panel, preparing the metal, test-fitting the replacement, plug welding, finishing the lower seam, and checking the final glass fit before paint.
This modification does more than improve rear visibility. It opens up the cab, gives the truck a cleaner and more proportionate appearance, and delivers one of the most recognizable upgrades available for these classic Ford pickups.
The project does require cutting, welding, and patience, but with the right tools and a free weekend, the transformation can be completed without replacing the entire cab.
Follow along through all 22 steps and see how a small-window F-100 becomes the big-window truck everyone wants.
