Hunter Jefferson’s 1976 Chevy C10

Some builds start with a plan. Others start with a bad idea that gets out of hand in the best way possible. Hunter Jefferson’s 1976 Chevy C10, known as Blowin’ Money, falls squarely into the second category. What was supposed to be a dedicated burnout competition truck turned into a full-blown show and street monster with a polished blower sticking through the hood and enough attitude to back up the name.

Hunter is the owner and operator of Precision Motorsports in Granbury, Texas, so building wild stuff is kind of his thing. Still, even he admits this one snowballed fast. The plan was simple at first. Build something loud. Build something rowdy. Then the vision grew, the parts list got longer, and six months later, Blowin’ Money rolled out as a teal-painted, supercharged C10 that looks just as serious sitting still as it does firing up.

Built Fast, Built Right

The entire build came together in about six months, which is impressive for a truck this detailed. All in, Hunter says he has around $80,000 tied up in it, including the truck itself. That number makes sense once you start looking closely. Nothing about this build was slapped together. Every piece was chosen to work together, from the drivetrain to the suspension to the paint.

The truck started as a 1976 C10 Custom Deluxe, but it doesn’t wear much stock skin anymore. The mirrors are shaved, the body trim is gone, and the drip rails were deleted to clean up the lines. Classic Industries supplied the OE-style grille, bumpers, and lighting to keep the factory look intact while everything else was stepped up a notch.

Teal Paint With a Retro Punch

Color is a big part of what makes Blowin’ Money stand out. The truck is sprayed in Tropical Glitz Majestic Teal paint, which hits hard under the lights. Hunter leaned into a retro vibe, then doubled down with hand-painted pinstriping by Wranglers “Art in Motion” out of Granbury. The pink and teal combo isn’t something you see every day, and that’s exactly the point. Hunter wanted something different, and he wasn’t afraid to go there.

Boosted LS Power

Pop the hood, and things get real in a hurry. Underneath that blower is a 2002 Cadillac LQ9 6.0L LS-based V8, built by M&M Automotive Machine Shop in Granbury. The bottom end runs ARP main and rod studs, Total Seal rings, and a 10.1:1 compression ratio. Texas Speed handled the camshaft duties with its Bald Eagle boost cam spec’d at 227/224 at .050, along with PAC valve springs and ARP head studs. Up top, the motor runs a Holley Hi-Ram intake feeding an 8-71 BDS Stage 2 polished supercharger. Sitting on top of that is an Enderle Big & Ugly injector hat that leaves no doubt what this truck is about. Fuel and spark are handled by a Holley Terminator X system with MSD and Holley Blaster components keeping everything happy. The exhaust is all custom stainless, running 3-inch pipes out both sides with Hooker headers up front. This isn’t just a blower for looks. It’s built to work, sound angry, and scare small children at idle.

Backing the boosted LS is an FTI Stage 4 TH400 built to take abuse. It features a billet valve body, transbrake, race red clutches, deep aluminum pan, and a short output shaft. A Circle D custom converter stalls around 3,500 rpm and hooks the whole setup together. Cooling comes from a Mishimoto Cummins trans cooler mounted in the bed, keeping temps under control even when things get wild.

Out back, power runs through a custom driveshaft to a Quick Performance Ford 9-inch with 3.50 gears and a full spool. Wilwood brakes handle stopping duties, with color-matched hard lines from Finishing Lines tying everything together cleanly.

Laid Low on Purpose

Blowin’ Money sits right, and that’s no accident. The front and rear both ride on QA1 coilovers, with a C-notch out back to get the truck down where it belongs. Precision Motorsports handled the chassis work in-house, including suspension installation and setup. Steering is upgraded to a QA1 rack and pinion system, making the truck feel more modern behind the wheel. It rolls on 20×9 and 20×11 U.S. Mags Bullet wheels wrapped in Travelstar GT rubber. Up front, the tires will rub the fenders during sharp turns, but that’s the price you pay for stance.

Finished Inside and Out

The interior is fully finished with TMI components, including seats, door panels, dash pad, and carpet. A Holley 7-inch digital dash keeps tabs on everything, while a TMI Grid 14-inch steering wheel handles driver input. The ceiling even features custom pinstriping to tie it back to the exterior, with all new trim from Classic Industries finishing things off.  Everything that didn’t need to be flashy was kept clean. Everything that needed attention got it.

Like most big builds, Blowin’ Money didn’t come together alone. Hunter credits his crew at Precision Motorsports, along with his management team, for keeping things moving. One of the biggest scares came right before SEMA when the injector hat almost didn’t show up in time. AlkyDigger saved the day by overnighting one, and a call to blower veteran Zach Pennock helped Hunter track down the remaining parts needed to finish strong.

Lessons Learned

Hunter says there are no shortcuts in a build like this. His advice is simple. Don’t rush it. Take your time. Express your vision in every detail. This was his first full restoration and LS swap, and learning how to deal with a blower motor added a whole new curve. In the end, it taught him a lot.

Plans are already in place for a bigger blower, a methanol conversion, and even more suspension drop. Because with a name like Blowin’ Money, standing still just isn’t an option.
