It’s May as I’m typing, which means around here, things are getting a little chaotic in the best possible way.
Summer show season is kicking into gear, travel plans are stacking up, project trucks are getting those last-minute details, and here at Street Trucks, we’re cooking up some big editorial projects we can’t wait to share. Keeping up with everything happening in the custom truck scene is no small feat, but honestly, that’s part of what makes this job so fun.
In this issue, we’re leading things off with a true icon. Carey Bewley’s Project Indy lands on the cover, and if you’ve been around the truck scene for any length of time, you probably already know why. This legendary 1996 Chevy Silverado is a true piece of custom truck history, and getting to share its story again feels right.
Inside, we’ve got a little bit of everything. We check out Greg Horton’s blown OBS Chevy, Torque Monster, a truck that perfectly blends old-school muscle-truck attitude with modern street manners. Then we head west for RIDNLOW, Michael Elton’s slick 2014 Silverado that proves lowrider-inspired styling still hits hard.

Looking for something completely different? Matt Pilcher’s slammed ’66 Econoline van, Layin’ Low, brings vintage weirdness in all the right ways.
On the event side, Nathan Buchanan takes us to the OBX Rod & Custom Festival, where killer trucks and beach-town vibes made for one unforgettable first visit, while Damien Davis checks back in from Lakeside Showdown, a show that’s quickly becoming one of our annual must-attend events.

Our tech lineup is just as packed. Project Rocky officially gets a major reset, ditching its lifted setup in favor of a corner-carving QA1 suspension overhaul, Wilwood brakes, and fresh Schott rollers. And if you’ve got an old chassis collecting rust in the corner of your garage, our new KBS Coatings frame restoration series might be exactly the motivation you need.
So what about you? Are you wrenching on your truck this summer? Hitting events? Starting a new build? Or maybe just grabbing a cold drink and taking a weekend off for once? Shoot us an email at chamilton@engaged.media and let me know what you’re working on. Your truck might just end up in these pages next!
