The terms “old school” and “OG” (original or original gangster) are terms you hear and/or use in your daily vernacular. 50 years ago, in the mid-1970s, truck publications were in their infancy. The van craze was in full effect while trucks were becoming more popular. No longer were pickup trucks used solely for long workdays.
The past 50 years have ushered in so many amazing styles, trends, and overall themes as they relate to the truck world. The moral of this column is to reinforce that you can be “old school” and/or “OG” depending on your style or something you have brought to the community, no matter how old you are. However, we must all acknowledge the true OGs who helped lay the foundation for this truck lifestyle we all enjoy so much!
With this being said, September marks Street Trucks Magazine’s turning the page from 25 to 26 years in the publishing business (the first issue came out in August of ‘99). We must tip our cap to one of the true OGs, Steve Stillwell, who passed away just over 2 years ago. Steve helped start Street Trucks, and we are thankful for his amazing contributions to the truck scene.
Until next month, keep it real and don’t forget to check out OLP via scanning the QR code for more truck-inspired content.
Stay On Da Rise!
