There’s is one four-letter word that we love and hate, SEMA. It’s always hectic, busy and tiring, but also fun and memorable. This past SEMA was no exception with halls packed full of new products, custom vehicles of all kinds and industry folks looking to find the next big thing. The show looked bigger than ever, a good sign after being a little light a few years ago. The insane custom trucks brought out spanned everything from clean classics to custom minis, some trick late-models and plenty of the lifted variety.

A few truck trends that we noticed this year at SEMA include the growing popularity of classic trucks and C 10s, with many featuring modern upgrades on the suspension and engines. On the lifted side of things, the pre runner style has gone from a Southwest phenomenon to a countrywide trend; many builders are implementing pre runner elements into their own builds. Quite a few companies are venturing further into the technological age with smartphone app controlled suspension, performance and security.

More and more performance and street rod style companies are looking toward the future as well, innovating new products for both cars and trucks. Of course, SEMA wouldn’t be SEMA without some Vegas partying. A few notable parties this year included the kickoff party at Hogs & Heifers hosted by Freaks of Nature, the DUB/Kinetik bash at Tao and the 13th annual Pindidit party at Hard Rock.
