A Dream 1967 Chevy C10 Finally Hits the Main Stage

We all have our family traditions, whether it’s eating certain foods at Thanksgiving or a road trip vacation each year. For Mike Losh of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, his family tradition has always been cars and trucks. Mike’s grandfather shared his love of automobiles with Mike and it turned into an addiction that would last the rest of Mike’s life. The 1967 Chevy C10 truck that Mike’s grandfather drove everyday has always had a place in Mike’s heart because it was the truck that he learned to drive in, and it helped kick-start his love affair with customizing vehicles.

Almost 10 years ago, Mike tore down the truck with the intention of restoring it to the condition it was in when his grandfather first owned it. But because of his love of all things automotive, he also investigated ways to customize and improve the truck.

During the build process, Mike developed a few products that he realized could benefit the entire C-10 market, but weren’t available at that time. So, he took the initiative and created Slosh Tubz, which are replacement inner fenders that allow wheel and tire clearance for adjustable or low suspensions and a better turning radius. He knew that completing his grandfather’s 1967 Chevy C10 would be an ideal advertising vehicle to show off the product and his family’s tradition at SEMA.

MIKE KEPT THE CLASSIC LOOK ON A MODERN TBI 350 BY MODIFYING THE FACTORY AIR CLEANER AND VALVE COVERS.

The final iteration of the suspension came courtesy of Porterbuilt. Mike took the truck over to Charles and Brian at Mayhew Race Cars to have the Porterbuilt front Dropmember and control arms installed. Out back, a custom notch was made and a Porterbuilt 4-link setup with KP Components Watts link was used. An AccuAir eLevel system provides air, and a set of CPP modular drop spindles complete with 13-inch brakes with a CPP booster were also installed.

Finishing off the suspension is a set of custom Budnik 20 x 9 and 22 x 10-inch billet wheels wrapped in Dunlop Direzza DZ101 245/35 and 265/35, respectively. Covering the front wheels, of course, is a set of Slosh Tubz surrounded by custom sheet metal work.

AT FIRST GLANCE THE TRUCK’S EXTERIOR SEEMS RESTORED UNTIL THE CUSTOM TOUCHES THROUGHOUT, INCLUDING THE WOOD BED TREATMENT, BECOME APPARENT.

Under the hood, the truck was brought up to date with a fuel-injected TBI 350 SBC. Pushing more than 350 hp, the engine was assembled by James Harrison. The motor features a Holley TBI, Edelbrock intake manifold, March Performance pulleys, Maradyne fans, and a Painless Performance alternator and wiring system.

One subtle trick on the engine is a set of old school Chevrolet script valve covers with modified PCV and breather ports to keep the lettering intact while still functioning with the fuel injection. A set of Speedway Ram horns flows to a custom Flowmaster 2 ¼-inch DBX stainless exhaust. The motor was painted and detailed by Street Driven Customs.

When it came to bodywork and paint, a restored but custom look was on deck. First, the bottom of the cab was sprayed with liner by Pro-Trucks. To accommodate the rear notch and suspension, the bed floor was raised 4 ½ inches before a tiger maple wood floor from Bed Wood & Parts was installed. Curt Rader and Luke Wahlgreen made a custom notch cover panel to show off the rear suspension.

Bringing the truck into the modern era is a set of Fesler billet LED taillights, Delta Tech HID headlights and power windows powered by a Kinetik HC1800 power cell. Kevin Shook at Jade Collision covered the truck in beautiful VW Aquarius Blue and White from BASF.

Some of the modern features went into the interior as well, including a set of Dakota Digital VHX gauges, Budnik steering wheel and Clayton Machine Works billet handles and pedals. A Vintage Air A/C kit keeps things cool inside the cab that flows with a classic plaid and tan leather interior crafted by McClelland Auto Upholstery.

Mike is already well under way on his follow-up project, a K5 Blazer dubbed Square Peg set to debut at SEMA. Looks like he has got this build thing down and we can’t wait to see what makes its way out of his garage next. He would like to thank his wife Sarah, his grandfather, James Harrison, Gary Angel, Kevin Shook, Charles Mayhew, John Bowling, 67-72chevytrucks.com and all of his sponsors. ST
