Held at San Luis Obispo’s Historic Madonna Inn right off the 101 freeway, 800 registered classic Chevy and GMC owners parked their prized possessions all along the 23-acre grass field next to the hotel. Originally started by Paul Karp, a member of C10 Club Central Coast, C10 SLO Down had its first big event last year but was still more of a car meetup than an actual show. Wanting to take the SLO Down to the next level, Karp consulted the organizers of C10 Intervention: Tony Ortega, president of C10 Club Sacramento, Carlos Vidales of Dropped Lower, John Oro of C10 Club, and title sponsor United Pacific.Subscribe to our weekly newsletter Once C10 Intervention and United Pacific joined the cause, it was off to the races… By the time the SLO Down closed off registration, 750 passes were sold out in record time with 50 more available to purchase the day of the show—a massively larger number than originally expected, which was fantastic for the show’s first time holding a big event. On the day of the show, vendors and registered owners began to roll in and set up at 6 a.m. before the start at 9 a.m. With every minute, the venue started to flow with all sorts of classic Chevy and GMC trucks like C10s, K5s, Blazers, 3100s, and even OBS trucks. C10 enthusiasts gathered from all over California, Arizona, and as far as Washington and Texas. Along with many food and drink booths, quite a few vendors were offering parts, accessories, and apparel like Dropped Lower, C10 Crew, and United Pacific. Many enthusiasts were happy to enjoy the show and come home with some goodies. Live music from bands and DJs played throughout the day, adding to the fun. Towards the end of the event, United Pacific held the drawing of its raffle giveaways of UPcarparts’ signature LED headlights, apparel, and other accessories, and organizers of the event awarded the show winners with trophies. It’s safe to say that C10 SLO Down 2022 was a huge success, and we’re eagerly anticipating next year’s festivities.
