BRENT Andrews from Gassville, Arkansas, never planned on owning this truck. Back when he was just 7 or 8 years old, he used to tag along with his brother and his best friend to local shows. One truck always stood out, a clean 1990 Chevy C1500 that was painted bright green with wild old-school graphics. Fast-forward almost 20 years, and Brent is scrolling through Marketplace one day when the same truck pops up for sale in Jonesboro. Covered in an inch of dust and sitting untouched for 15 years, it was still the one. He worked out a deal, brought it home, and the circle was complete.

He named it The Color of Money and decided to keep its spirit alive while making it his own. The original green paint was still in great shape under all that dust, so Third World Customs in Hobbs, New Mexico, freshened it up, and Brian Mooney laid down fresh old-school graphics that make the truck pop at every show. The body got the full treatment with a Street Scene grille up front, a Sir Michael’s roll pan in the back, tribal-style taillights, shaved handles, antenna, and stake holes, plus a smooth wiper cowl and GMC front clip.

Gassville, ARUnder the hood, Brent dropped in a fresh BluePrint Engines 355 ci crate motor with Holley throttle-body injection, stainless shorty headers, and a Borla 2.5-inch side-dump exhaust. It’s reliable, it sounds right, and it makes the truck easy to drive anywhere. The chassis is where things get serious, with a rear step notch that lets the axle tuck deep, Air Lift bags on all four corners, an Accuair air management system maintains the ride height, Belltech mono-leaf springs out back, and 2-inch drop spindles up front. It lays frame nice and clean on 20-inch Intro Twisted Vista wheels with no rub.

Inside, Saz Upholstery in Albuquerque wrapped Astro van buckets in tan tweed, added a Boyd Coddington steering wheel, a Power Acoustik stereo, and classic Bazooka triangle subs. A big 40×40 Britax ragtop sunroof lets the sun shine in while the family rides along.
A truck that sat for 15 years found its way back to the right guy, and now it’s making new memories with the next generation. Great work, Brent; we’ll be watching for you and the little guy at the next show.

Brent and his wife, Elizabeth, take their 6-year-old son and 11-year old daughter to shows whenever they can. The truck has already picked up awards at Relaxin in the Park, Battle in Bama, Slamily Reunion, and the Grand Finale. Brent says the easiest part of the build was the graphics, and the hardest was making the new motor and exhaust happy. His plan now is simple: add an Accuair setup and keep taking the family to shows so his little boy can make the same memories he did. That’s what this hobby is really about.
