A Truck Built to Remember a Father

When it comes to classics, especially ones that we are showing and cruising year-round, you really have to pay attention to the details in restoring them. It is crucial that every possible aspect is not only good enough to be shown but also practical and driveable without taking away from the driving experience and comfort in your rig. When you put all of those factors together, you get Silver Bullet, a 1977 Ford F-350 owned by Chris and Victoria Arnott from Tennessee.

This truck is packed with new technology and comfort but still gives off the absolute classic look and feel when driving around town. Chris has a lot of passion for this truck—passion that runs deeper than just a love for trucks and all things automotive. This Ford is a remembrance of his father’s old 1977 Ford. It’s one thing to build a truck, but to grow up and watch your pops build one instills a motivation to one day have a rig of your own. That is what Chris’ truck represents to him. This F-350 has all the bells and whistles, and when Chris takes this puppy for a drive, it is no doubt turning heads at every turn.

With one glance at the front of this rig, you can find that it is still rocking the stock grille and bumpers, but it has been upgraded with HID replacement headlights. Lifting up the original ‘77 hood, you will find a Ford Performance 7.3L Godzilla motor capable of 625 hp right out of the crate from Proformance Unlimited. The truck was sent off to Kincer Chassis in Louisville, Tennessee, where it was outfitted with I-beam connecting rods, a fully machined bottom end, a Callie’s Stage 2 camshaft, custom-engraved billet valve covers, and a Ford Racing low-profile intake manifold that sits nicely on top. Helping this 600+ horsepower monster breathe is a Kincer custom stainless exhaust with a Vibrant resonator and Borla ProXS mufflers that really lets all seven liters speak the language of our people.

Connecting man and machine is a Ford 10R140 10-speed automatic transmission with Kincer components, keeping all the mounting proper beneath the cab. Paired with the 10R140 is a Ford SuperDuty electric shift transfer case with a massive Knox Driveline custom 5-inch aluminum driveshaft. Connecting all of this horsepower to the ground is a Kincer custom-fabricated 9-inch housing, Dana 60 outers in the front, and an APE Built Dana 60 rear with ½-inch wall thickness on the axle tubes. Both of these axles run a clean set of 3.73 gears and ARB Air Lockers to ensure this rig is fully capable of everything you have to throw at it. Helping the axles slow down and keeping that 600 hp motor tamed is a set of Wilwood 6-piston calipers and 16-inch rotors. That is enough braking power to stop on a dime.

Now let’s jump into this F-350’s very unique suspension setup, which features a Kincer 2WD to 4WD conversion kit with Kincer 3-inch rear leaf springs. Don’t let the leaf springs fool you for any type of other lift out there. This ‘77 is rocking TracTive semi-active coilovers with Eibach springs on all four corners. This setup provides a truly comfortable ride and is also very capable of handling any type of conditions and terrain. Kneeling down and checking out what keeps the rubber side down on the road, we find ourselves with a classic set of Firestone Destination M/T tires (35×12.50R20) wrapped tightly around a set of 20×9 Detroit Steel Smoothie wheels. In my opinion, this combo really keeps a classic feel to this bad-to-the-bone rig.

Alright, we are done drooling over the exterior—let’s jump inside the cab and see what Chris picked out to provide cruising comfort. The first thing you look at is a beautiful set of Morgan’s Auto Trim OEM seats to keep the truck frozen in 1977—just like it looked on the dealership floor. This truck is rocking an F-Series 1978-’79 steering wheel and full Dakota Digital RTX gauges and instruments, keeping all of the temperatures at a glance when needed. But what is a classic truck without some tunes, right? Chris understood the assignment by wiring up a RetroSound stereo with modern Bluetooth and Sirius XM functions. Further inspecting the inside of this rig, you’ll find more details like a Rhino-lined floor, custom floor mats, a leather-wrapped dash pad and kick panels, and a beautiful Alcantara headliner.

This truck is packed with all of the goods that we can admire from near and far, from the familiar looks of a true-to-era ‘77 Ford F-350 to the horsepower of a new 600+ hp crate motor and all of the newer-generation tech found in the suspension, axles, and more. We are grateful for the opportunity to be able to cover such a legendary F-Series truck, such as this one. We thank Chris for showing off his truck and can’t wait to see him cruising around with Victoria chasing the Tennessee sun. Until the next one, we will see you in the next F-Series!
