FOR Roberto Carranza, building a custom truck has always been about doing something that felt real, something that matched his style and worked on the street. His 2020 Chevy Silverado, better known as Twister, isn’t some show queen sitting in a garage. It’s his ride, and it sees real pavement.
The name fits. Twister’s got that low, wide stance that catches your eye and doesn’t let go.
The name fits. Twister’s got that low, wide stance that catches your eye and doesn’t let go. Roberto’s been into trucks since the early days, reading mags, checking out local builds, and dreaming of building his own someday. That dream turned into a plan, and eventually, into the slammed daily you see here.
A big part of that slammed look comes from the full air suspension from Phat Phabz, paired with AccuAir’s e-Level+ system. It lets Roberto control his ride height on the fly, whether he’s rolling through town or parking at a show. To get the truck sitting just right, the frame was notched, the bed floor was raised, and rear tubs were added—all the work needed to tuck those 24×12 Intro Pentia wheels wrapped in 295/30/24s.
Under the hood, Roberto kept things simple and solid with the Silverado’s 5.3L V8, but gave it a little extra breathing room thanks to a cold air intake, Flowmaster exhaust, and a custom tune by CPT. It sounds right and moves when it needs to.
Twister’s doing exactly what it was built to do: turn heads, ride smooth, and stay low.
Inside, the factory black leather stays clean. Nothing overdone, just a solid setup for a truck that gets driven. And thanks to a fresh ceramic coating, the black paint shines like new, even after putting in daily miles.
Roberto’s taken Twister to events like Slamboree, Lone Star Throwdown, and Mini Nats, and he drives it to every single one. No trailer, no shortcuts, just solid wrench time and good execution. Most of the work was done himself, with help from the team at Phat Phabz, keeping the build hands-on and personal.
He’s still got plans for more upgrades down the road, but for now, Twister’s doing exactly what it was built to do: turn heads, ride smooth, and stay low.
