A Chevy-Only Extravaganza

In its 8th year, Dino’s Git-Down continues to grow and attract even more killer Chevy trucks from around the country. This event has very humble beginnings, as it was born in Dino Battilana’s own backyard. Even now in its most successful edition, the Git-Down maintains that downhome feel while hosting exponentially more show vehicles and attendance numbers than Dino had ever imagined. We sat down with the man behind one of the most buzzed-about classic Chevy truck shows out there for an inside look at how the highly anticipated Git-Down comes together.

“The best part about planning the 2018 Git-Down was knowing that we were going to have to move the event to a larger venue to accommodate for more space for everyone to enjoy,” Dino says. “Now, we have to go through a large permit process with the city that requires a big meeting with a board of directors for approval, but it’s a joy to know that we’re doing that work for more people to come out and have a good time.”

On Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, 750 trucks showed up to party, and 5,000 Chevy truck lovers flowed into the Big Surf Waterpark in Tempe, Arizona, where the Git-Down got down this past year.

“We’re so thankful for our lead sponsors this year, Ridetech, Ididit, Switch Suspension, All American Billet, C-10 Talk, Premier Street Rods, Brothers Trucks, and most of all Courtesy Chevrolet for making this event a success,” says Dino about the show’s supporters.

Friends and family equally prove to be the lifeblood of the Git-Down—it is seen with those in attendance and those behind the scenes that are growing the show with each passing year.

“I’d like to thank my family for being patient and supporting me in all I do, and a special thanks to Krysta Aranda AKA Double K, because without her year-long planning and organizing, this year’s event would not have been possible,” Dino says. “Also, a personal thank you to all who attended from around the country and the world. You are why we do this every year.

“When you’re here, you are our family, and we look at this show as a family reunion with trucks, and we want it to grow every year for all to enjoy. ” —Dino Battilana

“There are two things that will never change about the Git-Down—you’ll never have to pay to get in and you’ll never have to pay for food,” he continues. “When you’re here, you are our family, and we look at this show as a family reunion with trucks, and we want it to grow every year for all to enjoy.”
