Goodguys’ 28th Lone Star Nationals from Texas Motor Speedway Event Coverage

Texas Motor Speedway Event Hosted by Summit Racing

The end of summer arrived in North Central Texas—and that meant it was time for the 28th Summit Racing Lone Star Nationals at the Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth, Texas. Even though the temperatures averaged in the high 80s F, that didn’t stop hotrods and trucks from all around the region from attending the event over the weekend.

The Fall Goodguys event typically draws 2,500-plus entries, and this year didn’t disappoint. While in the past the truck entries were mixed in with the hotrods and classics, as of late they have been in a class of their own. The Trick Truck Corral has grown into a large portion of one of the main lots with a wide variety of trucks to enjoy. Stock, lowered and 4×4 trucks were among the entries to drool over with some extreme customs mixed in.

Once you weeded through the beautiful trucks in the corral, there was plenty of other things to do, including watching the Goodguys CPP autocross, checking out what the vendors have to offer, and scouring the swap meet for that elusive classic truck part or vintage sign. Everyone was on their toes when the burnout competition got underway, and when the smoke cleared you could fill your NASCAR dreams with a (paid) ride in a real NASCAR car, turning a few laps on the speedway. There was also the Cars for Sale Corral where you might snag a classic for a song at the end of the day on Sunday.

Speaking of Sunday, there was also the All-American Sunday where cars and trucks up to the year 1987 were invited to show off a little of the more modern classics. Topping off the weekend were the awards show where all the winners drive to center stage to pick up their trophies. Be sure to check the Goodguys 2022 event schedule so you don’t miss the Trick Truck Corral near you!
