It’s looking as if the pickup truck sales figures for 2018 are going to exceed the numbers from the previous year, which can’t be said for the car guys. America’s love for a cab and bed is undeniable throughout every generation. Even if you and I think the prices of new trucks are out of control these days, the 2018 sales figures clearly tell a different story. The big three have record-breaking sales this year, and even the American import trucks have numbers to be proud of. The team here at “Street Trucks” can’t be excited enough about the future of the truck industry, and you should be, too! For three months in 2018, the Toyota Tacoma sales averaged 20,000 units per month. These numbers also mean they sold more small pickups than the rest of the mid-size class combined. Now that’s impressive. Of course, the Ford F-series dominated the half-ton and full-size truck market all year long. The automaker sold more than 450,000 of its F-series line—one every 35 seconds—from January through June. With the introduction of the 2019 Ford Ranger, analysts fully expect sales to reach 900,000 for 2018. That’s a lot of trucks! The Dodge Ram was the second bestselling vehicle in October 2018 and in March, Chevy’s Silverado had the highest sales performance since 2010. Sure, we primarily cover classic and custom trucks from all over the country, but we love brand new modern trucks just as much as anyone and we will certainly be bringing in more modern truck makeovers. I’m sure a lot of you guys or gals out there have bought one, or two, of these trucks, and we’d love to know your thoughts about it. Do you own it for function or fashion? What are your plans to customize it?
