Rodrigo’s Laid-Out Denali on 30s

SOME builds are garage queens, but this one clocks miles. Rodrigo Padilla, out of Denver, Colorado, always wanted a clean, low, everyday driver that hit like a show rig. After two years and a fat stack later (about $150k including the price of the truck), his 2021 GMC Denali 1500 crew cab now sits blacked-out on big Forgiatos and rides like a dream—exactly how he pictured it as a kid. His partner, Marcia Navarro, loves the look, and his club, Team Billet, backs the build.

The stance didn’t come easy. Phat Phabz went deep, with tubs at all four corners and a reworked rear half of the frame so the Denali could lay way down without drama. With the suspension geometry dialed, clearances are right, and it all sits properly over 30-inch wheels—30x9s up front and fat 30x13s out back. Ridetech shocks in the front and rear keep the bounce in check, while a custom fuel cell out back frees space and keeps things tidy. When it’s time to slow that much wheel, Wilwood big brakes on all four corners do the heavy lifting.

Under the hood, Rodrigo kept it simple and smart. The factory 6.2L V8 and stock trans stay in place, providing reliable power and easy service without inviting any weird gremlins. Outside, the truck retains its factory black paint, which hits hard with the wheel/tire combo and the suspension drop. Inside is where the script is flipped with white German leather to create the perfect contrast to the black paint. Axman at KTC Audio in Aurora, Colorado, handled the audio and subs, so the tunes hit as clean as the lines.

This Denali isn’t hiding either. Rodrigo has rolled it to the Slamboree show in Oklahoma and a handful of meets in New Mexico. He says more mods are coming, with some engine bay detailing next to match the rest of the build. The biggest headache? Time. Rodrigo just wanted to drive his truck. Shortcuts learned along the way? Lock your wheel selection early, because on a truck like this, everything else is built around that spec. Advice to the next guy: be patient, stack your budget, and let the process work.

It’s not overcooked, it’s not a trailer piece, and it doesn’t try too hard. It’s a modern Denali laid out right, built to be used, and finished with enough style to turn heads at any lot.

What sets this truck apart? The combo. A late-model daily sitting this low on 30s with a white interior as clean as it is isn’t something you see every day. It’s not overcooked, it’s not a trailer piece, and it doesn’t try too hard. It’s a modern Denali laid out right, built to be used, and finished with enough style to turn heads at any lot. This truck is exactly what Rodrigo pictured when he was a kid daydreaming about his first real truck.
