Like It Should!
Some builds are finished the second the owner steps back and says, “Yep, that’s it.” Others never really stop evolving because the owner always has another idea waiting in the wings. Michael Elton’s 2014 Chevy Silverado, better known as RIDNLOW, fits squarely into that second category. That’s what makes this truck easy to connect with.
Michael and his wife, Tammy, from Roy, Utah, didn’t set out to build something ordinary. Michael saw this Silverado as a solid foundation with good bones and potential and plenty of room to make it his own. Even now, after all the work that has gone into it, he still considers the truck a work in progress. That’s the custom truck mindset in a nutshell.
The first thing you notice is the stance. Thanks to a full custom chassis built by Phat Phabz, a stock-floor body drop, and AccuAir e-Level air management, RIDNLOW lays flat when parked and comes up to driving height with ease. Ridetech shocks help smooth out the ride, while a Michigan Metal Works front suspension setup and a custom 15-gallon fuel cell help round out the chassis package.
Then came the rollers. The truck sits on a set of 26-inch Intro ID331 wheels, staggered for an even stronger look, with wider rear wheels giving it extra attitude from behind. To make room for the larger wheel and tire sizes, the front and rear tubs were fully reworked so the truck could sit as low as it does without compromise.
Michael has taken RIDNLOW across the West Coast show scene, hitting events like Rollin’ in the Red Rocks, Lowdown in Laughlin, and the Snake River Truck Show.
And the paint? This thing definitely makes an entrance. Andy Kawahara, out of Lehi, Utah, laid down a tri-stage pearl white finish with tropical lowrider-inspired graphics that give the truck a uniquely different vibe depending on where the light hits it. The teal bedliner loaded with silver and multicolor flake keeps the detail work going, while a billet grille and bumper inserts, LED lighting, and a full sliding ragtop push the build even further.
Under the hood, Michael kept things smart and simple. The factory 5.3L LS remains in place, mostly untouched, aside from some custom paint and graphics in the engine bay. Reliability still matters when you actually drive your truck.
Inside, the Silverado got the same treatment with Katzkin suede and leather seating installed by Unique Upholstery in Utah, a Kenwood head unit, JL Audio W7 subs built into the center console, color-matched interior trim, and a starlight headliner for a little extra flash.
