Swap in a Box
Back in the olden days, doing most engine swaps required a lot of work before you even turned a wrench. It’s a different world today. Swap kits are readily available for putting all sorts of engines into all sorts of vehicles. Take Trans-Dapt’s Swap-in-a-Box Complete Engine Swap Kits. Trans-Dapt got together with Hedman Headers and Hamburger’s Performance Products to engineer kits that make engine swaps easy-peasy.
Many kits also include a transmission crossmember and mount pad for an automatic or manual transmission. But the biggest choice you’ll have to make is which headers you want—shorty, mid-length or full length; steel, stainless steel, silver or black ceramic-coated; primary diameter.

Wilwood Disc Brakes announces new high-performance floating D52-R racing calipers built specifically for the racing industry. The D52-R caliper is built using a forged aluminum Type III hard anodized body with a 2.75-inch or 2.38-inch stainless steel piston. Weighing only 4.3 pounds, the D52-R caliper provides a lower deflection rate and high-volumetric efficiency when compared to current heavier-cast models. The caliper fluid inlet port is centered directly behind the piston, eliminating interference with the slide pins. Caliper mounting uses the original GM stock height and offset. Fits common 11.75-inch or 12.19-inch (up to 12.50-inch) diameter rotors and a choice of 0.81-, 1.00- or 1.25-inch rotor width.
MSRP starts at $172.76 for the caliper and $4.47 for the slide pins.
FiTech EFI is excited to extend its ignition offerings with the new Go-Spark CD Ignition. The all new Capacitive Discharge Ignition will deliver high-powered sparks from idle to top rpm to improve the combustion event and power output of your engine.
The Go-Spark CDI was designed for both EFI equipped or carbureted engines and features a microprocessor to manage the spark delivery. The ignition, which is assembled in the USA, produces a series of multiple sparks below 2,500 rpm to improve starting, idle quality and throttle response. At higher rpm, the CD technology continues to deliver full energy sparks through racing rpm to ensure complete combustion of the fuel mixture.
Tuff Stuff Performance High Torque Gear Reduction Starters deliver enough torque to turn over engines with compression ratios of up to 15:1, but are compact and lightweight to make the most of limited engine space.
They’re smaller than OE starters but feature a 3-horsepower motor that draws half the amps of a full-size starter motor. The adjustable mounting block gives you the extra room you need to clear headers, oil pans and chassis components, and the clocked billet aluminum drive end lets you reposition your starter as you add upgrades. Ball bearing construction makes for quiet, reliable cranking, and copper band field coils keep your engine from overheating.
Tuff Stuff gear reduction starters are available in triple chrome-plated, zinc-plated and powdercoated finishes. Summit Racing carries High Torque Gear Reduction Starters for most engines, including:
- Small and big block Chevy
- GM LS
- Small block Ford, 351 C/M
- Ford FE and 429/460
- Ford Modular V-8
- Small and big block Mopar, 426 Hemi
- Oldsmobile and Pontiac V-8
