LONE STAR THROWDOWN 2018

This Show Always Shines, Even When It Rains

The last weekend of February is highly anticipated by almost every serious truck enthusiast in the scene. Coming from near and far, builders of all types of trucks and vehicles have begun to use Lone Star Throwdown (LST) as the place to debut their newest builds or revamps of builds that have already shown. It’s the new standard that all hotels within a 30-minute drive of the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Conroe, Texas, sell out nearly a year in advance. The best advice we can give you is when you check out during your current stay, you might as well book for next year because you won’t want to miss out once you’ve experienced LST. The best part of the show is that it gets more exciting and fun with each passing year.

The show offers online pre-registration for the 2,000 vehicles that pack the grounds, and it’s common for vehicle entrant spots to sell out well ahead of time. Don’t hesitate to register if you want to be sure of getting a spot inside the event. With sponsors such as AccuAir, Kicker, American Racing, Raceline, Squarebody Syndicate, US Mags and more, you can always expect a great preview of what the coming year’s newest builds and products will include. With more SEMA builds in attendance than you can count, non-industry truck fans get a chance to see most of what they missed in Vegas a few months earlier.

With the threat of rain in this year’s forecast, some attendees were worried the show was going to be negatively affected. The quality and reputation of LST, however, shined brightly through the clouds and brought out almost every expected show vehicle and then some.

A little mud and rain couldn’t keep the large crowds from coming out all weekend. Between the sponsors, the amazing food court and the builds, as well as the packed American Force Arena, show-goers could expect their feet to get tired before their eyes could take in everything there was to see.

The Sunday awards show was the topper of the weekend. It was held inside and gave everyone a chance to dry off. The Top 100 builds, cash and the Best Of awards were given out to the select 5% of show vehicles in attendance worthy of taking home the hardware. These builds always set the bar for the coming show season and are a solid indicator of what to expect at events near you. Mark your calendars for 2019, folks, Lone Star Throwdown rolls back to Conroe, Texas, Feb. 22 -24.
