The Turkey Drag in Lone Oak, Texas, takes the event spotlight this month—a well-deserved honor after 15 years of successful shows.

For its first 10 years, the three-day car, truck and bike show was held at a 12-acre Texas property. By 2015, the Turkey Drag outgrew its original location, so organizers relocated it 25 miles north to Hawkins. The very next year, to better accommodate campers and the growing crowd, they moved the event 55 miles north to Wind Point Park where it has been held ever since. This 180-acre private RV park and resort offers room to grow and plenty of amenities to support a larger attendance.

The Turkey Drag got its name from when it’s held—the first full weekend in December, which is one week following Thanksgiving, a.k.a. Turkey Day. The weekend show-off is open to all makes, models and years of cars, trucks and bikes. Tent camping is allowed for occupants of registered show vehicles while all spectator vehicles must leave the park at dark. Golf cart entry is an option too, which is great for getting around the showgrounds.

In true community support fashion, the local Lone Oak Police Department and Volunteer Fire Department organize a “Blue Santa” fundraiser, which is a live auction of event banners and other donated items. They donate 100% of collected funds to a local charity. A live DJ cranks out music, announcements and games throughout the weekend, making it a fun family event. If you’re in the area, we recommend you attend it! Now let’s see some pictures from last year’s event!
