Project Titan
Street Trucks Pulls out all the Stops on Nissan’s Full-size Platform

Anything worth doing is worth doing well. This is a classic phrase that the staff of StreetTrucks magazine applies to the product we put out and the project trucks we build. From the colorful and custom packed magazine you flip through every month to the rolling works of art that have the ST stamp on them, we settle for nothing less than perfection. As dedicated enthusiasts, building bitchin’ trucks runs deep in our bloodstream, and led us to our path of producing the best custom truck magazine on the newsstand and in your mailbox. To further demonstrate our commitment to quality, last year Nissan Motor Corporation handed us the keys and pink slip to a 2007 Nissan Titan extended cab truck and asked us to do them proud. With a SEMA deadline bearing down and a stock canvas awaiting attention from a bevy of craftsmen, the build was underway. Desiring a loud and obnoxious exterior, the first stop on the Titan’s tour of thrash was L&G Enterprises in San Dimas, California, where graphic artist Theresa Contreras unleashed her skills on the truck’s bare factory finish. Patterns were made, tape was laid, colors were chosen, and the madness began with a unique billet web design stretching from the front fender to the rear taillight, all shaded with a custom blend of House of Kolor Galaxy Gray and White. The party didn’t end there. Since this was a magazine truck with several public and print appearances in its future some aggressive hues needed to enter the picture. House of Kolor Sunset Pearl and Galaxy Gray were chosen to team up for the bright and bold two-tone rocking this import full-size package. Head L&G painter Luis laid down the basecoats and main graphic shading, while Theresa made the graphics pop with black and Root Beer Brown Kandy drop shadowing and HoK pinstriping enamel mixed from black and white into a soft gray. House of Kolor Flo-Klear was employed to seal all of the graphic perfection in place before the truck was color-sanded, polished and then hauled across the parking lot to L&G’s sister company, Custom Truck Shop, for an intense suspension treatment. Louie Morosan and the crew from Custom Truck Shop went to town on our Titan’s underbelly, installing a 12-inch Bulletproof Suspension lift complete with Fox coil-over shocks with external reservoirs to dampen the front suspension. The Bulletproof kit employs a sub frame drop cage, massive lift spindles, and a custom-built Atlas Spring Co. leaf spring pack in the rear. In the rear Fox reservoir shocks with a 14-inch stroke were employed for maximum travel. Bulletproof traction bars stiffen the rear and keep the Titan’s hind end firmly planted. After the Titan was riding tall a set of machine-finished KMC Enduro 20-inch wheels was mated to Toyo 37 x 13.50 x 20 Open Country mud terrain tires for the ultimate insect-trampling combo. Transforming the trick outside looks to the interior came in the form of custom Roadwire leather seat décor, featuring a subtle blend of Graphite and gray leather all trimmed up with Competition Orange piping. Keeping occupants cool and sheltering rays from the comfy confines is custom tint from Lights Out Custom Window Tinting. Access is granted to the Titan’s roomy interior with AMP Research Power Steps dropping down to entrance level when the doors are cracked. Finishing touches for the Titan’s exterior included a few subtle additions consisting of a SnugTop custom tonneau cover capping off the bed and T-Rex Upper Class Mesh grille inserts laying style down on the nose. The factory door handles were smoothed and color-coded in matching House of Kolor paint to flow with the rest of the exterior artistry. Peeking out from the passenger bed side is the polished stainless slash cut tip capping off the 3-inch stainless steel swept side Gibson Performance exhaust system helping the truck’s factory 5.6L V-8 roar and produce an additional 15 HP and 18 lb.-ft. of torque. To re-calibrate the speedo after the massive 37-inch Toyo’s were mounted under the Titan, a Superchips Tirepaq tuner was used to get the computer in line with the new rolling stock. Project Titan remains a rolling flagship vehicle for StreetTrucks Magazine and represents the quality we uphold in the product we craft and the vehicles we build. A special thanks goes out to all product sponsors and automotive artists who were involved with the project. We look forward to sinking our teeth into the next late-model truck project to come our way. Stay tuned.

Theresa Contreras of L&G Enterprises even ran the House of Kolor graphics through the door jambs for the ultimate show truck touch.

From the back the Titan is accented with a SnugTop tonneau and billet web graphics stretching across the tailgate. L&G Enterprises laid down the paint and graphic styling, while Custom Truck Shop of San Dimas, California, put our project in the air with a 12-inch Bulletproof lift towering over 37-inch Toyos cradling 20-inch KMCs.

At the heart of the suspension lift is a sub frame drop from Bulletproof Suspensions. Combined with Fox Racing Shox coil-overs with remote reservoirs this baby handles. Custom Truck Shop in San Dimas put this bright and bold hauler in the air.

A unique custom graphic consisting of a billet web design was created and sketched by Theresa Contreras of L&G Enterprises. Head L&G painter Luis filled in the patterns with a blend of House of Kolor Galaxy Gray and White, while Theresa added drop shadows and House of Kolor pinstriping enamel to the artwork which would then be buried under House of Kolor Flo-Klear.
