The 20th Annual Temecula Rock 'n' Rod Run
Most custom truck shows feature your garden variety schedule of activities. A large parking lot, a disc jockey and vehicles packed door to door with barely enough room to squeeze in between are what we have come to expect from most shows. To keep the mood of a show high location is the key. Having an area for a show that offers enthusiasts something to do after their cleaning chores are finished and they've settled into their display spot, will keep them coming back year after year. On March 10-11th we experienced one of the best hot rod and classic truck shows on the West Coast. The Temecula Rock 'n' Rod Run has been going strong for 20 years and features an unbeatable atmosphere with hot rod trucks on every street corner and good old fashioned gearhead conversations filling the cold winter air. Nestled in Old Town Temecula, the show is held on Front Street with custom trucks and hot rods taking over the town for two straight days. Shops and restaurants provided additional show entertainment, while tunes from The Platters, The Fifth Dimension and The Commodores kept participants tapping their toes even with the unfortunate rainy weather. Despite the rain and hail that fell down over the event the mood was high as enthusiasts checked out each other's paint and chrome laden efforts. We believe the coolest feature of the Temecula event is the ability to cruise on the opening evening of the show. The small downtown atmosphere provided a real '50s feel as pipes roared and bright chrome and paint glistened under the old school street lamps. The Temecula Rock 'n' Rod Run is definitely an event to add to the yearly show calendar. For information on next year's Rock 'n' Rod run go to www.temecularodrun.com.
